Bom-Wrapper

The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Arthur Troup can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

What I know to be true because of the man who is my father

You hold the door open for the person behind you. You help someone on with their coat. Hunting is humane and just as long as it is not simply killing. A clear creek is best fished upstream, a muddy river down. There is a difference between a "creek" and a "crick". Clouds can tell the future. The written word is magical. A slap on the thigh while driving always brings a smile. Life is better on the field rather than the sideline. To never fail is to never try. Failure is never accepted. A 10" brook trout caught on a fly you tied is better than a 36" carp caught on a worm, but both are worth pursuing. The air on top of a mountain tastes better than at the bottom. Landing a plane on a short strip in a cross-wind feels wonderful. Teaching your children to fish carries a legacy. Your kids never forget a story you wrote just for them. Family night is more important than a clean room. A clean room is important. Fuzzies on the carpet cannot be tolerated. The best car in the world is the Ford Mustang. A spin in an airplane is the most exciting thing in the world. Never put your airplane into a spin. Accept people for who they are but feel free to criticize. Travel the world. Light the fuse on a model rocket engine san the rocket. Take care of the burn mark on your backside from the rocket engine. Old toilets are best blown up or shot at. Look at an airplane every time one flies by. Spiders are best released back into the wild. Stars mark the way home. Hold the tiller tight on the 12' aluminum boat when the storm catches you on the St. Lawrence river. Always throw a hook in the water. Look someone in the eye when you speak to them. Pull the arrow back on a buck, but don't release it. Appreciate the sacrifices of your elders. A license plate makes a good floorboard for your car. Make a piece of furniture. Learn how to initiate a conversation and don't be afraid to be boring. Never be boring. Paint a picture. Play an instrument. Listening is an important part of conversation. Always try to be the one talking in a conversation Know much about much. Long division. Diners serve the best hot turkey sandwiches. Flirt with the waitress at the diner. Say "zero" instead of "oh" when speaking about a number. Grammar in the written word is essential and more than the opposable thumb sets us apart from the apes. Marriage is important. That independence, even with its fears and aloneness, is not being lonely, it is a rare treasure to be protected and cherished until it is "all used up"!
