Obituary for Robert E. Anthony

Robert E. Anthony, 93, of Tilden Twp., passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 in his residence.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Pearl E. (Epler) Anthony. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the 25th Infantry Division. Robert was a Pearl Harbor survivor and a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. He was a charter member and former commander of R.W. Fritzinger V.F.W. Post #7215 of Walnutport. Robert was also a life member of Behler-Hein Post #637 American Legion, Hamburg. During the 1960's, he was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Robert was the youngest elected Justice of the Peace in Walnutport; and was also a former auditor there.
Robert is survived by two sons: Robert E. Anthony, Jr., and his wife Mariette, of Tilden Twp., and with whom he resided; and George T. Anthony, and his wife Pamela, Shoemakersville; four daughters: Anita P. Rowser, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Mary Ann Anthony-Kincaid, Bethlehem; Louise C. Morgan, Polk City, FL; and Ann L. Needles, and her husband Rob, Smithfield, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother: Earl W. "Billy" Anthony, Florida. Robert was predeceased by a daughter: Susan Anthony, who died in 1948; and one sister: Irene M. Yurconic.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. Burial with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
