This Christmas Eve, 50 years ago to the date, I came to believe again "Santa Is Rea"l! My two sisters and I shared a large bedroom above the kitchen that had only one source of heat and that was a hole in the floor where a previous pipe had been, to which we called our "peek hole". We all went to bed that night, but I just couldn't sleep even though I knew Santa wasn't real because the kids at school told me. From our bed I heard my mom talking to someone, so I got up and quietly and peeked through our peek hole to see who it was this late at night. I watched my mom give "SANTA" a teaspoon of tonsilene!!!! I seen "SANTA"!!! In "MY" kitchen! I scrambled back into bed and asked God to forgive me for not believing in Santa. That next morning I had as many presents as everyone else so I figured "whew I didn't get caught by Santa" and God forgave me! When I went back to school I told everyone Santa IS real and some believed me and others laughed at me. Then in 7th grade, I was telling my mom about seeing Santa that Christmas Eve and she started laughing. "That was Paul Schell! He was playing Santa!" (for the Lions Club I believe she said) He stopped by to see my Dad and Mom and his throat was sore (hence why I didn't recognize his unique voicce) and so my mom gave him tonsilene. And so I say, "Paul made a believer out of me!" that year and it still makes me smile when I picture it in my mind or see a picture of kids and Santa! And I will aways remember the Santa who made a believer out of me,"Paul Schell", whom Is one of the brightest coins in my hearts treasury forever! With Love, Jonie Brandstatter Huey
