Obituary for William D. Manderbach

William D.  Manderbach
William David Manderbach, 86, of Riverview Park, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 in ManorCare, Laureldale. He was the husband of Gail A. (Ashton) Manderbach, whom he was married to for fifty-eight years.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Martin and Estella (Arnold) Manderbach. William was a 1949 graduate of Reading High School. He then attended Kutztown University for two years prior to entering the service. William was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After being discharged from the service, he continued his education at Kutztown University where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. William also furthered his studies at Albright College, Temple University and Franklin and Marshall College, ultimately obtaining his principal certificate. William worked for the Reading School District for thirty-five years; teaching for one year and then becoming a teaching principal at 17th and Cotton Elementary School. He was a principal at Lauer's Park Elementary School and retired as principal from 10th and Green Elementary School. William thoroughly enjoyed his job and interacting with the students.
William was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church, Reading. He was a member of the Adamstown Rod and Gun Club and a 50-year member of Reading-Berks AAA. William enjoyed fishing, going to yard sales, cook-outs and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: William D. Manderbach, and his wife Sonya M. (Lesher) Manderbach, and Lori E. (Manderbach), wife of Gary O. Faust, both of Muhlenberg Twp.; three grandchildren: Joel C. Bubbenmoyer, and his wife Michelle; Katie E. Calm, and her husband Alex; and Sarah Manderbach; step-grandson: Andrew P. Faust; and three great-grandchildren: Thomas N., Elizabeth A., and Phillip A. Calm. William was predeceased by five sisters and one brother.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Alsace Cemetery, Reading. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
