Obituary for Susan L. Bordner

Susan L. Bordner, 56, of Strausstown, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2014. She passed away of natural causes in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Twp., where she had been a patient since December 16 after a brief illness.
Born at home in Stausstown on January 3, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Marion (Nagle) Bordner. Susan worked as a custodian for the Tulpehocken Area School District for twelve years and was also employed part-time at Post Precision Castings, last working in early November.
Susan never had any children of her own, but loved and was loved by so many children at the school. She enjoyed spending time with friends, shopping for good bargains, walking and also enjoyed God's miracles. Susan's greatest passion was to be a good Christian. She planted many seeds; some grew, others didn't, but not for lack of trying.
Susan is survived by her companion, Glenn G. Birkenbine, Strausstown; five sisters: Joan, wife of Russell Buckwalter, Lenhartsville; Janice, wife of Thomas Becker, Reading; Kathleen Brown, life partner of Barry Bomgardner, Myerstown; Pearl, wife of Barry Wurst, Bernville; and Shirley, wife of Larry Moser, Bernville; two brothers: Curtis Bordner, and his wife Eva (Reed), Lebanon; and Brian Bordner, and his wife Sherry (Luckenbill), Strausstown; and aunt: Sara, wife of Russell Brown, Georgetown, Kentucky. She is also survived by an abundance of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; a great-great-niece, and cousins.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 noon from Zion (Blue Mt.) United Church of Christ, 6573 Old 22, Strausstown. Burial will follow in Strausstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church Wednesday 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. Memorial contributions may be sent to Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit, www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com.
