Obituary for Ruth H. Hasenauer (Geschwindt)
Ruth H. Hasenauer, 81, formerly of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, where she resided. She was the wife of Earl G. Hasenauer, who died May 2, 1994.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late Morris C. and Katie M. (Stitzel) Geschwindt. Ruth was a 1955 graduate of Perry High School and a 1957 graduate of Reading Business Institute. She was a building clerk for Hamburg Elementary School from 1965 until her retirement on June 10, 1998. Ruth was a member of Sell Chapel at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was a past matron of Blue Mt. Chapter #443 Order of Eastern Star, Hamburg; a past matron of Order of Amaranth Court #61; past president of the Hamburg Area Educational Support Personnel Association; life member of Hamburg Area-Schuylkill Valley Association of School Retirees; life member of Berks County Association of School Retirees; and a former member of Cocalico Senior Center. Ruth enjoyed ceramics, receiving several blue ribbons; sewing, cross stitch and knitting.
Ruth is survived by her children: Faythe E. (Hasenauer), wife of Dale Breece, Reinholds; and Terry L. Hasenauer, and his wife Stacy, Temple; six grandchildren: Patricia Breece; Matthew Breece; Michael Hasenauer, and his wife Sue; Andrew Hasenauer, and his wife Allison; Nathan Hasenauer, and his wife Kristen; and Heather Foley, and her husband Dave; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister: Mary Jane (Geschwindt) Keim, Wyomissing. Ruth was predeceased by three brothers: Ray N.; Donald F.; and Harold H. Geschwindt.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Wednesday 9:30 to 11:00 am, with an Order of Eastern Star service by Conrad Weiser Chapter #449 at 10:45 am.
