Obituary for Ruth M. DeLong (Berger)
Ruth M. DeLong, 84, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of Norman A. DeLong who died December 16, 2008.
Born in Windsor Twp., she was the daughter of the late George and Estella (Koenig) Berger. Ruth was a beautician for fifty years in Hamburg. She was a member of the Hamburg Bible Church, where she made baby hats for different organizations. Ruth enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making clothing and embroidering tops.
Ruth is survived by her children: Jane M. (DeLong) Gernert, Hamburg; Linda L. (DeLong), wife of Bart Roth, Hamburg; Michelle L. (DeLong), wife of Robert Schweikert, Wernersville, Dennis N. DeLong, husband of Lizette R. (Heckman) DeLong, Muhlenberg Twp., and Craig S. DeLong, husband of Karen (Reitenauer) DeLong, Slatington; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister: Pauline (Berger) Lerch, Leesport. Ruth was predeceased by a daughter: Sherry A. DeLong, died 1962; and a sister: Shirley (Berger) Adams.
Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 9:30-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hamburg Bible Church, 731 Port Clinton Avenue, Hamburg, PA 19526.
