Rev. Gloria E. Snyder, "Mom Snyder" 76, of Strausstown, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 in Laurel Center, Tilden Twp.
She was born August 29, 1941, in Ontelaunee Twp., to the late Harry C. Brumbach and Esther (Keller) Brumbach Merkel. She married Ronald H. Snyder on March 3, 1962. Ronald passed away January 8, 2001. From this union four daughters were born. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 1973. Mom Snyder was a faithful follower of the Body of Christ. She became actively involved with Teen Challenge Training Center in 1977. This is where she became known as "Mom Snyder" to the students and staff. She pinned a carnation on the graduates each month since 1977, and served in the Public Relations Department.
She is survived by three daughters: Heide R. (Snyder), wife of Timothy Schell, Shoemakersville, Judy D. (Snyder) Hernandez, wife of Sonia Hernandez, Moultonborough, New Hampshire, and Ettakay (Snyder) Hess, Londonderry, New Hampshire; three grandsons: Derek J. Stoudt, Richmond, VA, Dustin T. Snyder, Springfield, Massachusetts, and Matthew J. Hyneman, Reading. She is also survived by her many "spiritual sons" at Teen Challenge. She was predeceased by a daughter: Mary Lou Snyder.
Services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am from Becker's St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 265 Maindencreek Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Burial will follow in Becker's St. Peter's Cemetery, Richmond Twp. A wake will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to: Teen Challenge Training Center, c/o Finance Department, P.O. Box 98, Rehrersburg, PA 19550.
