Obituary for Ralph W. Grim

Ralph W.  Grim
Ralph W. Grim, 94, of Tilden Twp., died Sunday, January 14, 2018 in his residence. He was the husband of Jean A. (Leiby) Grim. They were married May 3, 1947 and celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Born in Tilden Twp., he was the son of the late Harvey L. and Laura S. (Moyer) Grim. He graduated from Hamburg High school in 1942. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Tilden Twp., and had been a member of Consistory. Ralph was a US Army veteran during WWII and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked as a pattern maker for 50 years. He was a partner at Emhardt Pattern, Hamburg and later worked for Hamburg Pattern until his retirement. Ralph was a 32ndDegree Master Mason and member of Vaux Lodge No. 406 F&AM, Hamburg, Rajah Shrine, Union Fire Co. No. 1 of Hamburg, and Central Berks Fire Company. Ralph enjoyed fishing and camping, was an avid Phillies fan, and enjoyed his Sunday morning polka music on WEEU.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Dale L. husband of Theresa G. (Gambler) Grim, Kutztown, Chris A. Grim, Reading; a daughter: Cindy K. (Grim) wife of David H. Stump, Fleetwood; five grandchildren: David, husband of Tina, Dustin, husband of Andrea, Donna, wife of Trent, Ashley, and Rachel; and six great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Nathan, Taylor, Mitchell, Matthew, and Benjamin. Ralph is also survived by a sister: Laura (Grim) Bierman, Pottstown, and a step-grandson: Scott, husband of Taylor. He was predeceased by his siblings: Ray Grim, Anna (Grim) Trump, and Mabel (Grim) Kessler.

Services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off-street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Vaux Lodge No. 406 F&AM Services will be held at 1:45 pm.
