Obituary for Phyllis J. Kimmel (Faust)
Phyllis J. (Faust) Kimmel, 90, of Allentown, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in her apartment at Phoebe Terrace in Allentown under the care of Bayada Hospice. She was the wife of the late Richard G. Kimmel, who died March 3, 2004.
Born in Hamburg, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Florence (Kunkle) Faust. Phyllis was a 1945 graduate of Hamburg High School. Afterwards, she attended nursing school at Reading Area Hospital graduating as a Registered Nurse. She married in 1950, moved and started her nursing career at Washington, DC Hospital for Women in Washington, DC. Phyllis started her family after moving to Lynchburg, Virginia. Following her husband's career moves, her next home was in Connecticut while finally settling in Allentown where she lived for 60 years before moving to Phoebe Terrace. She was employed for 14 years as an RN at Allentown General Hospital's obstetric ward. Later, she was employed for 17 years at Muhlenberg College Infirmary. Phyllis was a member of United Church of Christ Greenawalds, Allentown.
Phyllis is deeply missed by her only daughter, Cindy A. Sandt, Emmaus; and her only granddaughter, Samantha Sandt, Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her sisters: Lucille Stoudt, Nancy Norton, and Barbara Graff; and her brothers: Marlin Faust and George Faust. Phyllis was predeceased by four brothers.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at St. Michael's Cemetery, 535 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526 on Saturday, July 28, 2018.
