Obituary for P. William Stitzel

P. William Stitzel, 89, of Perry Twp., died Sunday December 21, 2014 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Esther K. (Moll) Stitzel, they were married September 20, 1947 and celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Born in Muhlenberg Twp., he was the son of William S. and Mary E. (Bubbenmoyer) Stitzel. He was a self employed farmer. William was a member of Zion’s Church, Windsor Twp. He was a life member of Virginville Grange. Vice-president of Zion’s Cemetery Board. William enjoyed volunteering his time with the grange at the Kutztown Folk Festival and at other festivals and fairs.
Suriving in addition to his wife are two sons: Mark Wm. Stitzel, Perry Twp., and Larry D. wife of Debra M. (Miller) Stitzel, Round Hill, VA; six grandchildren: Yvonne Stitzel, Mark Stitzel, Jr. husband of Melanee (Kershner), Valerie Zook Heckman, Pamela Zook, Leila Stitzel, and August Stitzel; and seven great-grandchildren: Colby Scheffler, Corey Scheffler, Katy Heckman, Riley Doll, Chloee Stitzel, Carlee Stitzel, and Cassie Stitzel. He is also survived by a sister: Jane A. (Stitzel) wife of Lester W. Brobst, Tilden Twp.; and a son-in-law Nelson D. Zook, Bethel. He was predeceased by a daughter: Barbara J. (Stitzel) Zook, died June 14, 1998; and a sister Marie E. Stitzel.
Services will be held Monday December 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. from Zion’s Church, 770 Zion’s Church Rd., Hamburg Pa 19526. Burial will follow in Zion’s Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held on Sunday December 28, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off street parking in rear), and Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.
