Obituary for Mae S. Noecker

Mae S. Noecker, 102, formerly of Shoemakersville, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Berks Heim. She was the wife of the late Therman C. Noecker, who died August 31, 1991.

Born in Perry Township on November 5, 1915, she was the youngest of twelve children of the late Irvin D. and Elmira A. (Hoffman) Lengel. Mae was a 1932 graduate of Perry High School. She worked for twenty years for the Hamburg Area School District serving as manager of the Tilden Elementary School cafeteria. She was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville, where she was a former officer of the Women's Guild. Mae was also a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary; and the Reading Hospital Auxiliary. She was a former Camp Fire leader; served on the St. Luke's Cemetery Board; a member of the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens; as well as a tour guide for eleven years at the Kutztown Heritage Center.

Mae is survived by one son: Robert T. Noecker, and his wife Vernie, Shoemakersville; four grandchildren: Gary Noecker, Elsa Betts, Matthew Noecker and Cindy McGlory; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by a daughter: Elizabeth Shoemaker; a granddaughter: Amy Cochran; six brothers; and five sisters.

Services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm from St. Luke's Church, Fifth and Franklin Streets, Shoemakersville. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport on Thursday 7:00 to 9:00 pm. and at the church Friday 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
