Obituary for Lester C. Remp

Lester C. Remp, 85, of Shoemakersville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 11, 2014. He had been a patient in the Reading Hospital since Monday. Lester was the husband of Edna R. (Hoffert) Remp. They were married on January 15, 1949 and celebrated sixty-five years of marriage.
Born in Ontelaunee Twp., he was the son of the late Edwin and Mary (Winkelman) Remp. Lester was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as a truck driver for New Penn; and was also a part-time deputy police officer for the Shoemakersville Police Department. Lester was a member of Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, Centre Twp. He was also a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company; and a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and loading his own bullets. Lester was an automobile enthusiast and was known for taking very good care of his cars.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter: Nancy L. (Remp), wife of Norman L. Rickert, Mohrsville; daughter-in-law: Doreen E. Remp, Shoemakersville; four grandchildren: Amy S. (Rickert), wife of Brian Reese; Scott A. Rickert, and his wife Kemmy; Dustin D. Remp, and his wife Delilah; and Shane A. Remp, and his wife Rebecca; and seven great-grandchildren: Ashley, Landon, Shelby, Cody, Donovan, Delaney, and Zachary. Lester is also survived by three brothers: Arthur Remp, Lititz; Richard Miller, Shoemakersville; and Terry Seidel, Lincoln, PA; and one sister: Betty Hornberger, Ephrata. He was predeceased by a son: Leroy E. Remp, who died November 11, 2009; two brothers: Raymond and Leroy Remp; and two sisters: Pearl Hornberger and Bessie Eberly.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, 693 Irish Creek Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held at the church Monday 6:30 to 8:30 pm and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, at the above address, in memory of Lester C. Remp.
