Obituary for Leroy A. Shollenberger

Leroy A. Shollenberger, 79, of Upper Tulpehocken Twp., died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in Berks Heim. He was the husband of Arlene A. (Kalbach) Shollenberger. They were married May 11, 1957 and celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Born in Tilden Twp., he was the son of the late Arlan L. and Lala M. (Bailey) Shollenberger. He was a member of Zion Blue Mountain United Church of Christ, Strausstown. Leroy worked many jobs over the years, having worked for the former Degler Chevrolet, Hamburg, Hafer's Garage, Hahn Motors, and PennDot. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for CarTech, Reading for 30 years, retiring in 1998. After his retirement, Leroy worked at Green Acres Golf Course, Bernville assisting with grass mowing. Leroy enjoyed riding motorcycle, tinkering with old cars, and working on old tractors. He enjoyed hunting. He was a member of Strausstown Lion's Club, and always enjoyed volunteering for the annual car show.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: Steve A. Shollenberger husband of Sue (Parker), Bethel Twp., Arlan L. Shollenberger, husband of Corina (Moyer) Myerstown, Bruce R. Shollenberger companion of Brenda Guthrie, Jefferson Twp.; a daughter: Cathy L. (Shollenberger) Bicksler, Upper Bern Twp; four grandchildren: Melissa Hix, Erica Miller, Jacob Shollenberger, Tyler Shollenberger; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister: Mae (Shollenberger) wife of Richard Kunkle, Kempton. He was predeceased by two brothers: Donald and David and a sister: Gladys.
Services will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (Off-Street Parking in Rear). Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the funeral home.
