Obituary for Kenneth P. Wetmore

Kenneth P.  Wetmore
Kenneth Paul Wetmore, 92, of Lenhartsville, formerly of Hamburg, passed away on March 24,
2018 at his residence. He was born at Sartwell Creek, Potter County, Pennsylvania, the fifth
child of the late Elton and Olive (Jack) Wetmore. The family spent most of his childhood and
adolescence in the Port Alleghany area, McKean County, PA.
He was the husband of Cynthia G. Wetmore, who preceded him in death in 2015. They were
married on July 31, 1947 and celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage. The couple were
married at Takoma Park, Maryland and lived there for two years until they relocated to
Coudersport, PA where "Ken" established a dairy farm in Hebron township. They relocated to
the Hamburg, PA area in 1972, where he was involved in furniture manufacturing and truck
driving.
He was an active Christian and member of the Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist
Church. He and Cynthia were charter members of the church and participated in the building of
the Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist Church. He could be found each Sabbath
morning at the church participating in discussions of the spiritual life of the Christian.
Ken and Cynthia raised four sons and one daughter, all of whom survive him: sons, Donald K.
Wetmore (Susan) Hendersonville, North Carolina; David A. Wetmore (Verna) Spokane,
Washington; Calvin R. Wetmore (Carol) Hendersonville, North Carolina; Thomas E. Wetmore
(Heidi) Silver Spring, Maryland; daughter, Darlene "Dolly" F. Sills (Eric) Lenhartsville, PA., with
whom Ken and Cynthia resided while receiving amazing care during their declining years. Also
surviving are ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was
granddaughter, Jeannette Wetmore.
Ken is also survived by a son-in- law, Mike Surak, Hamburg; one brother, Bill Wetmore, Keene,
Texas; and one sister, Rita Elsner, Keene, Texas. Preceding him in death were two brothers,
Arthur and Ernest; and two sisters Genevieve and Lillian.
Viewing will be at the Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, 22 Willow Road,
Hamburg, PA 19526 on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday, March 29, 2018 10:00 to 11:00 am.
The funeral service will also be at the Hamburg SDA Church on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery, Tilden Township, where Ken and Cynthia will await the resurrection
together.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist Church.
