Obituary for Jesse R. Minnich

Jesse R. Minnich, 82, of Mohrsville, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. He was the husband of Nancy P. (Wagner) Minnich. They were married on November 7, 1953 and celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.
Jesse was born at home on the family farm in Hegins, Schuylkill Co. He was the son of the late Charles W. and Lula R. (Kimmel) Minnich. Jesse was a 1950 graduate of Reading High School; and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He worked in sales for Monroe-Sweda Business Systems, Reading; and was also the Vice-President of sales and marketing for C.H. Briggs Hardware, Reading. Jesse was a past president of the Mohrsville Water Association; former school board director for Schuylkill Valley School District; member of the Disabled American Veterans; and a member of the U.S. Air National Guard. He enjoyed the annual family fishing trips to Canada; hunting on the family homestead in Hegins; and watching the birds from the window at home. Jesse was a "do-it-yourselfer" and handy with anything. He especially enjoyed the frequent hiking trips on the Appalachian Trail with his wife, children, grandchildren, and dogs.
Surviving in addition to his wife Nancy are three sons: David A. Minnich, and his wife Gisele, Perkiomenville; John C. Minnich, and his wife Joan, Hamburg; and Brian K. Minnich; and his wife Tama, Nazareth; one daughter: Sharon P. Minnich; and her companion Andrew Monroe, Lewisberry; ten grandchildren: Linda, Jeffrey, Jarrad, Andrew, Alicia, Luke, Logan, Julia, Jillian, and Megan; and two great-grandchildren: Katarina and Stellan. Jesse is also survived by one brother: James Minnich; and his wife Natalie, Wernersville; and one sister: Shirley (Minnich), wife of Richard Steffy, Shillington. He was predeceased by four brothers: Aaron, Charles, Leonard and Lamar.
Relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Blue Mountain Family Restaurant, Shartlesville, to gather with Jesse's family and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
