Obituary for Francis L. Witman

Francis Leroy Witman, age 94, died peacefully in the Lutheran Home at Topton on August 23, 2018. Also known as “Stony”, he was born August 26, 1923 to Francis and Emily (Stump) Witman from Stony Run, PA, then later moving to Hamburg in 1950. He served in the United States Navy Seabees from 1943 to 1946 and later worked in the
sheet metal industry. He also enjoyed carpentry and working on his home. He had many kind neighbors as well as friends on both the golf course and trail. He is survived by his wife, Sharla, son, Douglas, sister, Carol Kemmerer, and nieces and nephews: Erin, Rebecca, Mary, Timothy and Peter. He is preceded in death by his parents and
brother, Johnny. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31 at 7:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, with a visitation with the family beginning at 6:00 pm.
