Obituary for Emilia Santina Maressa

Emilia Santina Maressa, 22, of Mohrsville, has peacefully entered Heaven into God’s loving arms. Our precious Baby Em entered eternal salvation at home, surrounded by her family on October 5th, 2020. Emily had the heart of an angel and a smile as bright as the sun. She is irreplaceable and is missed every second she is not with us. Our circle will never be complete until we meet again.
Born January 17th, 1998 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Reading, Pa., to Santino and Tara Maressa, her beloved parents. She will be deeply missed by her sisters, Elizabeth and Sabrina, and her niece Paisley Maressa. Emilia's brother Michael and Grandfather, James D. Jury predeceased her and welcomed her into Heaven. Emilia is also survived by her Paternal Grandparents, Paolo and Antonietta Maressa, Maternal Grandmother, Mrs. Karin B. Jury, Uncle Doug, Aunt Lee, Zia Silvia, Zio Renato, Zio Tony, Cousins Kevin, Christina, Joey, Frankie, Elisa, Daniella, and many more loved ones here on this earth.
Her niece Paisley was offically awarded the title of "my best friend forever" and brought daily joy and happiness to her life. Emmi treasured her time with Paisley and spent every available moment with her teaching, reading and playing, laughing everyday. Our Baby Em loved nobody more in life than her Mom, she was the sunshine to her life and wanted nothing more than to be just like her. Emmi spent every night drinking hot tea with her Mom and talking about life and what is yet to come.
Heaven has gained the most glorious angel; she is the sister that completed our forever lasting circle. The 3 sisters were best friends, rarely seen apart, doing and sharing everything together since birth. Emily and her sisters were born one year apart.
The moment we became three sisters our endless love had begun. We spent every waking minute together, watching Mom's every move, playing barbies, having dance parties, spending hundreds of hours on webkinz and sims, and always falling asleep in Mom and Dad's bed. The memories we have of holidays, playing, school, vacations, our yearly girl's week at the shore, Knoebel’s cabin, riding your favorite roller coaster the Phoenix!, proms, watching tv, hanging out in our bedrooms, making crazy snacks at night, doing each others hair, watching each other learn to drive, riding the golf cart, and family time will forever be treasured as we think of those bittersweet memories, smiling and remembering our happy days. Emily has always been the sister of comfort, kindness, and pure love. She is what made us complete. We will never have a day the same without you Emmi, but you will forever be apart of us, the three of us against the world!
Emmi has the warmest heart, she loved her yorkie Bentley so much, we call him "Emmi's Benny". Emmi would do anything for her family, to comfort, to cry, to be present, to love. She is a bright shining light in all lives that were lucky enough to know her. Emily worked at Tony's Family Restaurant where she loved spending time with her family and became close to many of the patrons. She often spoke of Kathleen, who embraced Emmi with love and support during their treasured conversations.
Emily practiced the Baptist faith and is a saved Christian, now home with God who she spoke to daily about her thoughts, feelings, and dreams. She enjoyed her early years with her sisters as a Little Lamb at Eplers Church where she met and was loved by Mrs. Lash and her family, graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School, attended RACC and Millersville University and was an honor student in the Nursing program. Emily's goal was to become a nurse, working in the O.R. or as a mental health practitioner.
Our heartfelt love and thank you to our Pastor Mike Collingwood and wife Kathy, of Bible Believer's Baptist Church, who provide God's word to the Maressa family.
We cant wait until that blessed day when we are all together again! Wait for us with your baby blankie that you always have with you, (our family secret), "Your my best!". Until that glorious day Emmi, together in our hearts!

Juan & Deanna Casiano & Emma Washburn

Santino, Tara, Elizabeth, Sabrina, Paisley, and Family,
What do we say when words can never be enough to express our most sincere and deepest heartfelt feelings and sympathy at this very sad and most difficult time with the loss of your precious and beautiful Emmi. Though Emma, Juan and I had to leave Leesport, Pennsylvania because of my change in duty station to the Army in Colorado, we continued to keep in touch until life got busy and we slowly drifted apart. Even so, it is amazing how God brings those that have been such a special part of our life together during these times of great need. We are in Alaska now, and you all are in Pennsylvania, and yet, while many miles separate us geographically, our hearts are forever close to those we love. The news of such tragedy has reached those of us who love you dearly and has touched our hearts and lives here as well. Your family was such a very special part of our life there in Pennsylvania during the time I was stationed there. We were blessed to have gotten to know all of you. I have the fondest of memories of bringing Emma to your warm, cozy, and loving home only to have the warmest and most welcoming greeting at the front door upon our arrival and entering through the front door. Though Emma and Sabrina met at school and were classmates and later became close friends, it turned out that all three of your girls, Elizabeth, Emmi, Sabrina, and Emma, became close friends. They would take turns coming over to each other’s home but when Emma would come over to your home either to play or spend the night with Sabrina, it was not just Sabrina that she was welcomed by. When Emma came to spend the night with Sabrina she came and spent the night with all three girls, Elizabeth, Emmi, and Sabrina. Elizabeth and Emmi were just as happy to see Emma as Sabrina was, as well as you Santino and Tara. You always treated Emma like one of your own. I remember all three girls running to the door to greet us. While all four of the girls would run off giggling and planning their night together, Tara and I would spend time visiting with one another and talking about our girls and our nursing. I remember y’all having nights planned around the holidays and baking cookies and doing crafts or just sitting down for a cup of tea to all enjoy together. We all had so much in common. Emma coming to stay the night was not just a sleepover, it was a slumber party with all four girls. I do not think I can ever recall a time when the three of your girls were not together. The bond between all of you was, and I am sure it still is, so very special and strong. We cannot even begin to imagine your pain and heartbreak over the loss of your precious Emmi. Our hearts are completely broken and crushed, and we cannot even imagine how broken yours is. I just want you all to know how very sad and sorry we are to hear about the loss of beautiful Emilia. Please know that we are here for you and are only a phone call away should you need anything. I am reaching out to our church family here in Alaska and placing your family on our prayer list with our prayer team. We are praying for all of you during this very sad and difficult time. We pray that God will wrap His loving arms around every one of you and bring to all of you great comfort and peace today and in the very difficult days that lie ahead. We know that Emmi is in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We cannot imagine the glory that she is experiencing right now and what a celebration in Heaven there is with her arrival there. We pray that knowing that she is with our Lord in Heaven that this too will bring you an even greater comfort and peace. We are human and desire to keep our loved ones with us forever and we most certainly never envision our children going before us but sometimes God has a different plan and calls us Home as He needs us there with Him. As difficult as it is to understand, and me may never understand until He calls us Home, we must believe and trust that the Lord has greater plans for the ones He has called Home. I believe that He has great plans for Emmi. When I read in her obituary that she wanted to be a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner my heart was happy. I am now a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and am just opening my own private practice here in our little farming town in Palmer, Alaska. I will have a part of Emmi with me as I care for those that she desired too to care for and I will do this in memory of her. She will be in all our hearts and memories forever and one day we will be with her again. We love all of you dearly and will be praying for you all. May God Bless you and your sweet family today and always.
In Christ’s Love,
Deanna, Juan, and Emma
