Obituary for Elizabeth A. "Betty" Seidel (Kemp)
Elizabeth A. Seidel, "Betty", 90, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018 in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of William W. Seidel. They were married on August 2, 1947 and celebrated seventy years of marriage.
Born in Hamburg, she was the daughter of the late Leroy E. and Esther I. (Wanner) Kemp. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Hamburg High School. She was a self-employed beautician in Lenhartsville for thirty-three years, retiring in 1987. Betty was a member of Frieden's Church, Lenhartsville. She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, traveling and collecting dolls.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children: Ken W. Seidel, husband of Linda L. (Loeb) Seidel, Perry Twp.; Karen E. (Seidel) Bartley, Washington, Illinois; and Rebecca L. (Seidel), wife of Lee S. Heffner, Windsor Twp.; three grandchildren: Matthew J. Hertzog; Kristin L. (Seidel), wife of Wesley Yelley; and Korissa E. Seidel; and three great-grandchildren: Miranda E. Hertzog; Alexandria B. Hertzog; and Sawyer P. Yelley. Betty was predeceased by a brother: Robert Kemp; and an infant sister: Esther L. Kemp.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Paul's (Smoke) Cemetery, Windsor Twp. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Thursday 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604.
