Dorothy V.  Geschwindt (Kissinger)
Dorothy V. Geschwindt, 90, formerly of Yoder Heights, Tilden Twp., passed away at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville, where she resided. She was the wife of Carl A. Geschwindt, who died June 8, 1983.
Born in Muhlenberg Twp., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ella (Tobias) Kissinger. Dorothy worked for many years as a sewing machine operator for Hamburg Knitting Mills until her retirement. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where she was a member of the fellowship committee and the quilters at church.
Dorothy was an energetic and kind person. She loved music, especially big bands and polka, and was an avid reader of mysteries and westerns. Dolly had a soft spot for stray cats, and gave many a happy home. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and tending her beautiful flower beds. A lifelong Phillies fan, she loved a good ballgame. Her family and friends will always remember her beautiful smile, gentle spirit, and positive attitude.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter: Sharon K. (Geschwindt) Kissinger, Auburn; two granddaughters: Cherie (Kissinger), wife of Joseph Powell; and Hilary Kissinger, wife of Tom Connors; and three great-grandchildren: Ian, Chloe and Wren.
Services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Hamburg. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be held in the church Monday 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
