Obituary for Betty L. Vitalo (Watt)
Betty L. Vitalo, 88, formerly of Reading, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the Berks Heim. She was the wife of Joseph Vitalo, who died December 25, 2003.
Born in Reading on February 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. Watt and Mary Ann (Kovall) Patterson. Betty attended Reading High School and graduated from Empire Beauty School. She owned and operated Nannette Beauty Salon in Reading. Betty was an active member of Grace Alsace United Church of Christ, where she was a Deacon, in charge of maintenance and held many offices. She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing cards and traveling.
Betty is survived by three daughters: Kathleen L. Yerger, widow of Dennis A. Yerger, Leesport; Terri L. Hoffman, wife of Duane Hoffman, in Delaware; and Kim M. Weber, Temple; five grandchildren: Kara L. Small; Brett A. Yerger; Jamie L. Hazen; Brock L. Hoffman; and Ryan J. Weber; four great-grandchildren; and another on the way. She was predeceased by a brother: Robert Watt.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 5:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home on Thursday 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Burial will be private in Alsace Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 or Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation, 4330 East West Highway, Suite 230, Bethesda, Maryland, 20814.
