Anna Mae Stiefel, 73, of Muhlenberg Twp., died Thursday, March 27, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the wife of Richard S. Stiefel, Sr., who died May 24, 1980.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of Sarah (Balthaser) Hoffman, Mohrsville; and the late Frank Hoffman. Anna Mae was a graduate of Ontelaunee Vocational School. She worked as a sewing machine operator and in quality control for Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville; and the Leesport Knitting Mill. Until her retirement, Anna Mae also worked part-time for Plaza Dairy Land; a job which she loved. She was an active member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. Anna Mae was loved by her family; and she especially enjoyed helping to take care of her little grandson Richy.
Surviving in addition to her mother are one daughter: Robin S. (Stiefel), wife of Gary E. Phillips, Ontelaunee Twp.; daughter-in-law: Tara A. (Kline) Stiefel, Muhlenberg Twp.; two grandsons: Brandon Strand, and his fiance Brittany Gorman; and Richy Stiefel, III; one granddaughter: Brianan Strand; and one brother: Larry Hoffman, and his wife Carol, Birdsboro. Anna Mae was predeceased by her son: Richard S. Stiefel, Jr., who died November 22, 2011.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Monday 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Tuesday 12:30 to 1:30 pm. For online condolences, please visit, www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com.
