Anna I.  Grauer (Kline)
Anna I. Grauer, 83, of Centerport, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 26th, in same home that she was born in, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of George W. Grauer. They were married on August 29, 1954 and celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Born July 22, 1933 on the Kline Family Homestead, she was the daughter and only child of the late Norman H. and Marie H. (Haag) Kline with whom they resided.

Anna was a member of the Reading High School Class of 1951. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kutztown State Teacher's College where she met her future husband, George, and later received her Master's Degree in Education from Penn State.

She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Quakertown, taught elementary school in Kutztown, and retired from Schuylkill Valley in 1990 after a 35 year teaching career, during which time the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania awarded her a citation in recognition of distinguished contributions to the advancement of Education in 1968. In addition to teaching, she also enjoyed working as an electrician's helper for the family business, Grauer Electric. Anna served as a former Justice of the Peace for Centerport. She was a former member and office holder of the Central Berks Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to keep busy and making crafts and refinishing wood furniture were among her favorite hobbies. Anna was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports and following her favorite teams on TV.

Anna was an active member of St. Michael's Church where she was a former consistory member, assisted with organizing church events and served in many other capacities over the years including volunteering her time at the Kutztown Folk Festival.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter: Kathy L. Grauer, wife of Larry Clark, San Diego, CA; two sons: Kenneth V. Grauer, husband of Lori, Centre Twp., Kevin K. Grauer, husband of Roberta, West Lawn; five grandchildren: William and Georgeanna Clark, Lauren and Logan Grauer and Gina Grauer. Anna is also survived by an aunt, Betty Hepner and George’s sister and husband, Louise and Eric Whorral of Ft. Washington and their children Greg Whorral and Chris Whorral and their families as well as many cousins and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Anna was predeceased by a foster brother, Raymond W. Folk, Jr., who passed away in 2012.

The family would like to extend their thanks to her caregivers Jess, Pam, and Janet as well as Brittany and all of the wonderful staff at Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.

Services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 12:00 noon from St. Michael’s Church, 529 St. Michael’s Rd., Hamburg 19526. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A visitation with the family will be held from10:30-11:30 am in the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to: St. Michael’s Church at the above address or Central Berks Fire Co.
