Obituary for Robert J. Gust

Robert J. Gust, 94, of Hamburg, died Friday, February 17, 2017 in his residence. He was the husband of Lorraine J. (Becker) Gust, died September 2000.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Paul and Teresa R. (Rosselinni) Guastapagalia. Robert attended Hamburg Bible Church. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and Korea. He served for 25 years in the Army and was a Master Sargent E-8. Robert served the Borough of Hamburg as Chief of Police from 1970-1974 and Fire Marshall at Hamburg Center from 1980-1982 until his retirement. He enjoyed crafting miniature houses, woodworking, trains, and watching baseball games at the Hamburg Park. He also enjoyed gardening.
Robert is survived by a son: Douglas A. Gust, Hamburg; a daughter in law: Judy D. (Busick) Gust, Centerport; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son: Jeffery B. Gust, died November 21, 2009, and his brothers and sisters.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. For online condolences, please visit www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com
