Donald C. "Apple"  Kistler Sr.
Donald C. Kistler, Sr., "Apple", 76, of Hamburg, passed away in his residence on Monday, January 30, 2017. He was the husband of Mildred F. (Hamm) Kistler. They were married October 28, 1961 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.
Born in Neffs, Lehigh Co., he was the son of the late Leroy and Geraldine (Miller) Kistler. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Apple worked for Glen-Gery Brick Corporation, Shoemakersville. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Apple was a life member of Hamburg Game Association. He enjoyed family get-togethers in the backyard; jigsaw puzzles, and watching baseball games at the Hamburg park.
In addition to his wife, Apple is survived by his children: Christine A. Heckman, companion of Gene Schlegel, Hamburg; and Donald C. Kistler, Jr., and his wife Tammy, Hamburg; six grandchildren: Amanda, Shelby, Samantha and her husband Dan, Andrew, Jordan, and Alexis and her husband Kevin; and four great-grandchildren: Calyee, Jaxon, Danica and Harper. He is also survived by his brother: LeRoy Kistler, and his wife Barbara, San Antonio, Texas; and his god-daughter and niece: Leanne Yarbrough.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
