Obituary for Virginia "Penny" E. Shobe

Virginia E. "Penny" Shobe, 61, of Tilden Twp., died Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the wife of Ernest L. Shobe. They were married September 14, 1985 and celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Nelson L. and Lois D. (Bickel) Harding. She was a member of Hamburg Community Seventh Day Adventist Church, Tilden Twp. She worked as an Operating Room Technician for 10 years at St. Joe's Hospital, Reading, a secretary for Ernie's Appliance Repair, Hamburg for 15 years, and most recently retail salesman at Cabela's for the past 4 years. She was a member of the Pot Luck Committee at church, enjoyed croceting, and always loved being with her family and absolutely loved her grandchildren.
Penny is survived by six children: Jennifer E. Shobe, Tilden Twp., Kristopher F. Shobe husband of Ashley (Bouman), Hamburg, Katrina (Shobe) wife of Bradley Robinson, Tennessee, Jeremy J. Shobe, Tamaqua (currently stationed in Kuwait with the United States Army), Lisa M. (Shobe) Trayer wife of Phillip, Hamburg, and Ernest L. Shobe, Jr., Angela (Stewart), Philadelphia; fourteen grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother: Keith A. Harding husband of Eyvonne, Cripple Creek, CO; and two sisters: Pamela J. (Harding) wife of Leroy Moser, Boyertown, and Kathy A. Harding, Tennessee.
Services will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm from Hamburg Community Seventh Day Adventist Church, 22 Willow Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:00 pm in the church. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
