Obituary for Richard G. Miller

Richard G. Miller, 74, of Perry Twp., passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 in Perry Twp. He was the husband of Donna M. (Reed) Miller. They were married on September 10, 1960 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.
Born in Perry Twp., he was the son of the late Arthur S. and Verna A. (Adams) Miller. He was a dairy farmer on the family farm in Perry Twp. He was also a truck driver for D.B. Diefenderfer in St. Lawrence from 1970 until 1990; and then drove truck for Carl Dietrich. Richard loved to be outdoors in the field. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, outdoor activities, genealogy, and loved speaking Pennsylvania Dutch. He was a life member of the Ontelaunee Grange and a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company Auxiliary. Richard was always helping his friends and would drop what he was doing to help a friend in need.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Tara L. (Miller), wife of Bill Nabozny, Windsor Twp.; and Becky S. Miller, Perry Twp.; two grandchildren: Riley and Quinn; and two sisters: Ella (Miller), wife of Karl Engle, Leesport; and Marie (Miller), widow of Harold Strause, Perry Twp. He was predeceased by a brother: Arthur P. Miller. Richard is also survived by his furry grandchildren: Levi, Sheba, Lilac, Jake, Sweets, Quad and Midnight who brought much joy, light and love into his daily life.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Wednesday 9:30 to 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901.
