Obituary for Marvin O. Lesher

Marvin O.  Lesher
Marvin Oldt Lesher, 91, formerly of Lenhartsville and Kutztown, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in the Berks Heim. He was the husband of Marie B. (Henry) Lesher. They were married on June 27, 1953 and celebrated sixty-three years of marriage.
Born in Klinesville, Greenwich Twp., he was the son of the late Augustus A. and Addie (Oldt) Lesher. Marvin was a graduate of Lycoming College, Williamsport, receiving a degree in accounting. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He worked for forty years for AT&T until his retirement in 1991. Marvin was a member of Frieden's United Church of Christ, Lenhartsville. He was also a member of the Kutztown Jaycees and the Kutztown Lions Club. Marvin played the violin in the Kutztown University Orchestra. He volunteered at the Kutztown Folk Festival for over thirty years. Marvin enjoyed quilting. He loved speaking Pennsylvania Dutch, gardening and eating chocolate.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter: Sonya M. (Lesher), wife of William D. Manderbach, Muhlenberg Twp.; one granddaughter: Sarah M. Manderbach; and several nieces and nephews. Marvin was predeceased by five brothers: Clarence, Earl, Lester, Roy and Ira.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Frieden's Cemetery, Lenhartsville. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Monday 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:00 am.
