Obituary for Dennis A. Yerger
Dennis A. Yerger, 67, of Leesport, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his residence. He was the husband of Kathleen L. (Vitalo) Yerger. They were married October 6, 1973 and celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Arlan G. Yerger and Louise I. (James) Allen. He graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School in 1966, then attended Penn State in Reading. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Dennis worked as a machinist for 22 years for DANA Corporation, and 9 years for Alcon, retiring in 2011. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all loved his family. Dennis was a member of the First Defenders of the Civil War Roundtable of Berks County, and Delta Company 1/20 11th L.I.B. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children: Brett A., husband of Nicole L. (Sterner) Yerger, Leesport; and Kara L. (Yerger), wife of Mark B. Small, Mohrsville; and two grandchildren: Helene Yerger, and Dylan Small. He is also survived by a sister: Cheryl C. (Yerger), wife of Larry E. Bressler, Mohrsville.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 at 7:30 PM from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to: Animal Rescue League of Berks County, P.O.
