Sarah E. (Balthaser) Hoffman, 95, a resident at ManorCare Laureldale and formerly of Mohrsville, died Friday, April 29, 2016, in ManorCare- Laureldale. She was the wife of Franklin R. Hoffman, died December 18, 1975.

Born in Centre Twp., she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Herma (Bucks) Balthaser. She was a member of Salem (Belleman’s) Church, Centre Twp. She graduated from Ontelaunee Vocational School in 1938. Sarah worked as a sewing machine operator at Crown Knitting Mill until her retirement. She always enjoyed volunteering with the ladies auxiliary at church, especially during the Christmas bizarres. She also enjoyed traveling to Nashville, TN. She was a big fan of country music.

Sarah is survived by a son: Larry F. Hoffman husband of Carolyn A. (Conrad), Birdsboro; three grandchildren: Shelly Lentz, Todd Hoffman, and Robin Phillips; eight great-grandchildren: Briannan Ahrens, Brandon Strand, Ryan, Hope, and Brock Hoffman, Nicole Light, Jaclyn Gold, and Richard Stiefel, III; and a great-great grandson: Hurley Ahrens. She is also survived by a sister: Madelyn (Balthaser) Umbenhauer, West Lawn. She was predeceased by a daughter: Anna Mae (Hoffman) Stiefel, died March 27, 2014; a grandson: Richard Stiefel, Jr.; two brothers: Ralph and Warren Balthaser; and four sisters: Esther Swanger, Arlene Hollenbacher, Mabel Steffe, and Wilma Kunsman.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman’s) Cemetery, Centre Twp.
