Elizabeth A. Bertschy, "Betty", 50, of Hamburg, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 in her residence. She was the wife of Matthew R. Bertschy. They were married on September 12, 1998.
Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of Alice (Lauck) Toback, Cumbola, Schuylkill Co., and the late Charles Toback. She was a graduate of Pottsville High School. Betty worked as a cashier for the former Hill's Department Store, Cressona. She then worked for thirteen years for Jetson Direct Mail, Tilden Twp; and last worked as a cashier for Lowe's Home Improvement, Tilden Twp. Betty was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. She took part in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and was a supporter of For Pete's Sake. Betty also volunteered in the library at the Tilden Elementary School.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters: Leah M. Bertschy and Lydia E. Bertschy, both at home; one brother: Charles "Chuck" Toback, Pottsville; three sisters: Marie Fackler, Pottstown; Suzanne Krammes, Lake Wynohah; and Donna Cromyak, Cumbola; two nephews: Joshua and Matthew Cromyak; and her mother-in-law: Dorothy M. Bertschy, Hamburg.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Hamburg. A visitation with the family will be held at the church Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Elizabeth A.
