Obituary for Harold S. Strause

Harold S. Strause, 75, of Perry Twp., died Friday, July 10, 2015 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. He was the husband of Marie A. (Miller) Strause, they were married May 20, 1961 and celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Born in Upper Bern Twp., he was the son of the late Stephen and Helen (Strause) Strause. Harold was a member of Zion’s Church, Perry Twp. He was a 1958 graduate of Hamburg Area High School. Harold worked for Allentown Cement for 32 years as an electrician before his retirement. He was a member of Family Center No. 523 Loyal Order of Moose, Hamburg, Vaux Lodge No. 406 F & A.M., Hamburg, Perry Gun Club, Shartlesville Fish and Game, Shoemakersville Fire Company, PA Cattleman’s Association, Berks County Cattleman’s Association, PA Farm Bureau, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and he was a past 4H leader. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, farming, fixing things, and being outdoors. He was a loving husband and grandfather.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Carol A. (Strause) Fetherolf, Perry Twp., Alice M. (Strause) wife of Chad Kamp, Perry Twp.; three granddaughters: Kate, Sarah, and Erin; two grandsons: Collin and Evan; and a great-granddaughter: Emma. He is also survived by a brother: Stanley husband of Joyce Strause, Mohrsville; and two sisters: Lucille (Strause) wife of Robert Werley, Hamburg, and Julia (Strause) wife of Carl Bickel, Hamburg. He was predeceased by a son: Michael P. Strause, died December 30, 1985, and a sister: Josephine Metz.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in Zion’s Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533.
