Helen M. Brendel, 87, formerly of Shoemakersville, and a resident at Berks Heim, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 in Berks Heim. She was the widow of Warren I. Brendel, died July 8, 1992.
Born in Dauberville, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ruth M. (Bickel) Kreider. Helen was a member of Salem (Belleman’s) Church, Centre Twp. She worked as a sewing machine operator for numerous knitting mills in the area for many years, retiring in 1990. Helen was one of the first residents of the Franklin and Noble Apartments in Shoemakersville. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and playing bingo.
Helen is survived by a daughter: Shirley A. (Brendel) wife of Michael H. Adams, Germansville; a son: David W. Brendel, Tilden Twp.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman’s) Cemetery, Centre Twp.
