Jacob L.  Kessler Sr.
Jacob L. Kessler, Sr., "Jake", 74, of Hamburg, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 in the Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sonia M. (Ciesielko) Kessler. They were married on October 10, 1964 and celebrated fifty years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Jacob W. and Margaret (Luckenbill) Kessler. Jacob was a 1958 graduate of Hamburg High School and attended Kutztown University and McCann School of Business. He and his father owned and operated several family businesses in Shoemakersville - Acme Paper Box and Jakro Textile Mill. During the latter portion of his working years, Jacob worked at Tray-Pak Corporation, Reading, until his retirement. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Jacob treasured family time spent with his wife and two sons. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard, playing piano, and Friday night at the Keystone Social Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Jacob L. Kessler, Jr., and his wife Pam, Hamburg; and David M. Kessler, and his fiancee Trish Birtles.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am. If desired, memorial contributions in Jake's memory may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Hamburg, PA 19526.
