Wilma W. Leininger, 86, formerly of Leesport, a resident at Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., died Friday April 22, 2022 in Laurel Center. She was the widow of the late Kenneth L. Leininger, passed away October 8, 2006.
Born in Port Clinton, she was the daughter of the late William and Geneva (DeLong) Waxwood. She graduated from Perry High School in 1954. Wilma worked as a seamstress at Globe Underwear, and Wright's Knitting Mill, before becoming owner of Oley Valley Hardware. She enjoyed going to casinos, and also playing bingo. She was a member of The Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania State Firemen's Association, Oley Valley Business Association, Oley Valley Pot Pie Association, and Shoemakersville Senior Citizens.
She is survived by four children: Prudence G. (Leininger) Hepner, wife of Russel, Laureldale, Michael W. Leininger, husband of Kim, Laureldale, Lisa F. Leininger, Penn Twp., and James P. Leininger, Penn Twp.; two step-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a step grandchild: Russel J. Hepner, Jr., and her sisters: Carrie Wenrich, Mary Bashore, Gladys Althouse, Phyllis Bashore, Bernice Shirk, and Marlene Wallace.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
