William E. Sheeler, Jr., 77, formerly of Spring Twp., died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in the Berks Heim, Bern Twp. He was the husband of Maryanne P. (Lomas) Sheeler, who died May 11, 2004. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late William E., Sr., and Maggie M. (Leese) Sheeler. He was also predeceased by his step-mother: Hildegard (Joos) Sheeler. William was a 1953 graduate of Wilson High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He first worked as a mechanic for Firestone Tire, Pottstown. He then worked as a maintenance mechanic for Lucent Technology from 1981 until retiring in 2000. William was a pilot and enjoyed skydiving. William is survived by three sons: William M., husband of Donna (Reinhart) Sheeler, Fleetwood; Robert J., husband of Merrilee (Kolb) Sheeler, Wernersville; and Frederick C., husband of Cheryl (Geiger) Sheeler, Bern Twp.; and one daughter: Joanne P. (Sheeler), wife of Scott Patton, in North Carolina. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Matthew, Megan, Amanda, William, Jennifer, Benjamin, Maggie, Evan, and Haley; one great-granddaughter: Stella; and three brothers: Carl Sheeler, Spring Twp.; Scott Sheeler, in Ohio; and Paul Sheeler, State College. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:00.
