William S.
Mooney
June 17, 1948 – January 29, 2026
William S. Mooney, 77, of Centre Twp., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 29, 2026. He was the husband of Jean L. (Beyerly) Mooney. They were married November 7, 1970 and celebrated 55 years of marriage.'
Born in Maytown, he was the son of the late Harold and Frances E. (Elliott) Mooney. He graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School in 1966. Bill then went on to serve our country in the US Navy, and the Army National Guard. While in the Navy, Bill served overseas during Desert Storm. He worked for 35 years at CarTech, retiring in 2008. He was an amateur radio enthusiast and was a member of various Radio Clubs. He was very outdoorsy and was a member of three gun clubs, one of which he served as range officer. He was the former president of the Sinking Spring Jaycees; a former volunteer firefighter at Sinking Spring Fire Company; and a past Grand Patriarch in the International Order of Odd Fellows of Pennsylvania.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Shannon E. Mooney, West Nottingham Twp., and Kyle C. Mooney, Centre Twp.; a daughter: Erin L. Mooney, Centre Twp.; two grandsons: William J. Hower, IV, and Brady E. Mooney. He is also survived by a sister: Martha (Mooney) Saul.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 2:30 pm in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport. A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 9:30 am in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
