Obituary

William D. Mayer, Jr., 63, of West Brunswick Twp., Schuylkill Co., passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg. He was the husband of Cynthia L. (Kohl) Mayer. They were married on May 22, 1982 and celebrated forty years of marriage.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late William D. Mayer, Sr. and Gladys E. (Oswald) Mayer. Billy was a 1977 graduate of Fleetwood High School. He worked at Carpenter Technology Corporation, Reading. Billy attended The Bridge Church, Hamburg. He was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the NRA. He was also a member of the National Wild Turkey Foundation; Kempton Rod and Gun Club; and Ducks Unlimited. Billy enjoyed Mustangs and going to car shows; NASCAR; and was a fan of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters: Crystal A. (Mayer), wife of Kris Brown; Jennifer L. (Mayer), wife of Richard Hebelka; and Melissa M. (Mayer) Miller; five grandchildren: Destiny M. Hebelka; Shelby M. Moyer; Benjamin H. Miller; Tyler W. Moyer; and Dylan A. Brown; two great-grandchildren: Bentlee M. Reed and Novalee G. Reed; his step-mother: Jane E. (Geesey) Mayer; and a large extended family. Billy will be missed by his canine companion: Yukon

Services will be held on Saturday, December 10 at 2:30 pm from The Bridge Church, 3561 Old 22, Hamburg. A viewing will be held in the church Saturday 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Burial will be held on Monday, December 12 at 10:00 am in Berks County Memorial Gardens. The funeral procession will leave from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (parking lot in rear) on Monday at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, P.O. Box 311, Montrose, PA 18801 or the NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
