William D. Smith, 88, of Hamburg, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 in his residence. He was the husband of Barbara J. (Aumack) Smith.

Born in Blossburg, Tioga County, he was the son of the late Robert E. Smith, Sr., and C. Beatrice (Leonard) Smith. He graduated from Liberty High School, Tioga County. He was a US Army Veteran. Bill worked as a lineman for Met-Ed for 28 years retiring on July 31, 1994. Prior to Met-Ed, he owned and operated William D. Smith Plumbing and Heating in the 1960's and was currently employed as a driver for Kelly Toyota, Hamburg. He enjoyed playing solitaire on his computer, playing cards on his porch on beautiful days, woodworking, and watching NASCAR. He was a member of Port Clinton Fire Company and the American Legion.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a step-son: David R. Dupree, Tampa, FL fiance of Mary L. (Simpson) Miller; three grandchildren: Kristina (Schlenker) Henn, Brooke (Schlenker) Riccobono, and Derrick Dupree; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: James, Cora, Mary, Joan, Robert, Jr., Linda, Dean and Tina. He was predeceased by a son: Gerald A. Smith; a daughter: Debra J. (Smith) Schlenker; a step-daughter: Dawn R. Dupree; a granddaughter: Courtney Dupree; and a brother: Thomas.
