Bensinger

William G. Bensinger, Jr., 76, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 in The Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Martin) Bensinger. They were married on March 3, 1975 and celebrated forty-eight years of marriage.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late William G. Bensinger, Sr.; and Louise (Garret) Bensinger Kemp. Bill worked as a chef, first for Schmeck's Villa, Jacksonwald; and Weber's Coachlight Inn, Pricetown Road. He then owned and operated The Virginville Hotel for twenty years until his retirement. Bill then worked part-time as a greeter at Wal-Mart, Tilden Twp. He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Twp. Bill was a member of Vaux Lodge #406 F&AM, Hamburg; and the Scottish Rite, Reading. He was also a member and past president of the Berks County Restaurant Association; and a member of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association where he was named Restaurateur Of The Year in 2006.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: MaryBeth (Bohn), wife of Robert Scholl, Shoemakersville; William G. Bensinger, III, Shoemakersville; Daniel W. Bohn, husband of Debbie, Shillington; and Noah M. Bensinger, husband of Erin, Benton, Louisiana; eight grandchildren: Alicia, Dylan, Matt, Brooke, Luke, Cayden, Coltin and Kelly; and two great-grandchildren: Layne and Brinlee. Bill was predeceased by a son: Donald P. Bohn; sister: Virginia Grubel; and infant sister: Ellen.
Services for Bill will be held on Monday, February 26 at 12:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Monday 11:00 am to 12:15 pm. Vaux Masonic Lodge service will be at 12:15 pm. Burial will be private in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp.
