William L. Bechtel, 89, formerly of Wyndcliffe House Apartments, Hamburg, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 in ManorCare, Laureldale, where he resided since February. Born in Greenwich Twp., he was the son of the late John W. and Edna R. (Meitzler) Bechtel. William was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked in maintenance for eighteen years for Firestone, Pottstown, until 1980. He was also a dairy farmer in Windsor Twp., Kempton and Bernville. William is survived by six daughters: JoAnn, Karen, Ruth, Susan, Doris and Anna; and thirteen grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister: Evelyn (Bechtel) Sunday, Lititz; and several nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by two brothers: John and George Bechtel; and two sisters: Alice (Bechtel) Essig; and Christine (Bechtel) Clauser. Services will be private.
