Warren R. Balthaser, "Whitey", 89, of Centerport, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of Sarah E. Ulrich Balthaser, died September 25, 2007.
Born in Centre Twp., he was the son of the late Oliver R. and Herma K. (Bucks) Balthaser. Warren was a 1941 graduate of Ontelaunee High School. He worked as a knitter and foreman for thirty years for the Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville, retiring in 1987. Warren was a life-long member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. He was a charter member of Boy Scouts of America Troop #1, Dauberville; and an Eagle Scout recipient. Warren was a member of Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, Centerport.
Surviving are two sons: Larry G. Ulrich, and his wife Pat, Jackson, NJ; and James R. Ulrich, in Florida; and three daughters: Shirley J. (Ulrich), widow of Raymond Wesner, Centerport; Faye L. (Ulrich), wife of Richard Eckert, Lansdale; and Patricia A. (Ulrich), widow of Glenn Franklin, Leesport. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Sarah E. (Balthaser), widow of Frank Hoffman, Mohrsville; and Madlyn E. (Balthaser), wife of Gene Umbenhouer, West Lawn. Warren was predeceased by two brothers: Ralph W. Balthaser; and Lawrence Balthaser; and four sisters: Esther E. Swanger; Mabel E. Steffe; Wilma K. Kunsman; and Arlene E. Hollenbacher.
Services will be on Monday at 11:00 am from Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp. A viewing will held in the church Monday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Belleman's Church Endowment Fund, 3540 Belleman's Church Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541.
