Skimski
August 23, 1963 – November 25, 2024
Vincent Skimski, 61, of Fleetwood, passed away at home on November 25, 2024. He is now in the arms of the Lord after what can only be described as a courageous seven-year battle against pancreatic cancer.
Born in Reading on August 23, 1963, he was the husband of Jamie (McCarty) Skimski. Vince is survived by his son Heath Skimski, significant other of Gabrielle Newman. He is also survived by his mother Felicia (Kompa) Skimski; his sister Christine (Skimski) Sonday, and her husband Charlie; his sisters and brothers in laws Charles and Judy Schaeffer; Cliff and Kim Rahn; and Stanley McCarty; and many nieces and nephews. Vince is also survived by his puppies Reggie and Stanley. He was predeceased by his father Richard Skimski; mother-in-law Dorothy (Kieffer) McCarty; and father-in-law Stanley McCarty.
Vince was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Reading-Muhlenberg Vo-tech and Penn State Workforce and Development Program. Vince taught at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology for twenty-six years where he received the Diversity Award, Teacher of the Year Award, and Honorary Alumnus Award. He was devoted to the mission of the school and his students held a special place in his heart. Vince was a proud member of Plumbers Local 690 for over twenty-five years and worked for many local plumbing contractors.
Vince grew up attending St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Reading; and was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 250 S. 12th Street, Reading. A visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Thaddeus Stevens Foundation, c/o Plumbing Technology in Vince's honor, 750 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 170602.
