Obituary

Thaddeus (Theodore) "Ted" J. Zaorski, 96, of Reading, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2017 in Keystone Villa. He was the husband of the late Regina M. (Glembocki) Zaorski, died April 17, 2017. They were married January 6, 1943 and celebrated seventy-four years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Boleslaw and Felicia (Rakowicki) Zaorski. He was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Ted served in the United States Army Second Infantry Division during WWII, have served in Europe until Germany surrendered. While advancing through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Czechoslovakia, and Germany, Ted received five battle stars, and a Bronze Star. Ted helped liberate thousands of Polish slaves and people that were displaced. Ted could speak Polish which helped in saving people from the Germans. Upon returning to the United States, he graduated from Reading High School and later Temple University in 1952 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Ted worked for many years repairing televisions and appliances for Griffith and Bixler, Reading and General Electric Company, Reading. He retired from GE in 1983. Ted loved sports, especially the Philadelphia Phillies, playing volleyball and swimming. He enjoyed dancing and listening to Polkas. He was also an avid pool player. He was an active member with the Polish Falcons for 64 years having held such positions as President and Secretary. He also took pride in being the custodian at St. Anthony's Church, Reading for many years. He will be sadly missed. Ted is survived by his children: Paul M. Zaorski, Sr., and his wife Judy, Reading; Kenneth A. Zaorski, and his wife Donna, Bernville; Paulette (Zaorski), widow of Patrick Nawa, Exeter Twp.; and Maria (Zaorski), wife of Bruce Stempo, Bernville; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. He is also survived by a brother: Norman Zaorski, Exeter; a sister: Dolores Latshaw, Berks Heim; and a son-in-law: John Mirchich. Ted was predeceased by a daughter: Loraine (Zaorski) Mirchich; one grandson; two brothers: Constantine & Richard; and two sisters: Helen & Virginia. Ted's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Keystone Villa, Fleetwood and Caring Hospice for the tremendous care and attention that was shown to Ted. It will never be forgotten, and they are truly grateful. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 10:30 am in the Gethsemane Cemetery Chapel of the Resurrection, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading. Entombment will be in the Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum.
