Thelma E. Fox, 94, formerly of Tilden Twp., died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Rosegate Skilled Nursing Center, Indianapolis, Indiana, where she resided for three years. Her husband, Earl J. Fox, Sr., died December 2, 1985.
Born in Perry Twp., she was the daughter of the late Clayton A. and Alvesta (Stetzler) Strausser. She was a 1935 graduate of Hamburg High School. Thelma worked as a sewing machine operator for many years for the Globe Underwear Company, Shoemakersville; and Burkey Underwear Company, Hamburg, until her retirement. She was a life member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp., where she was a life member of the choir, Sunday School teacher, past officer of the Ladies Aid Society, and past president of the Women of St. Michael's. She was also a member of Union Fire Company of Hamburg and Shoemakersville Fire Company and their beneficial associations. Thelma loved working in her garden and raising vegetables and flowers.
Thelma is survived by one son: Earl J. Fox, Jr., husband of Shirley A. (Dougherty) Fox, Tilden Twp.; one daughter: Shirley L. (Fox), wife of Charles B. Aldenderfer, Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and one sister: Emily K. (Strausser), wife of Roscoe Haag, Centre Twp. She was predeceased by a sister: Pearl M. (Strausser) Stitzel, died April 6, 2012.
Services will be on Monday at 2:30 pm from St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the church Monday 1:00 to 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael's Church, for Pavilion Renovation, at the above address.
