Susan I. Metz, 65, of Shartlesville, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in her residence. She was the wife of Larry E. Metz. They were married on September 27, 1997 and celebrated twenty-six years of marriage. Susan was predeceased by her first husband: Ronald B. Schaeffer, who died August 2, 1996.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Herbert G. and Marlene M. (Waxwood) Wallace. Susan was a 1977 graduate of Hamburg Area High School. She was a special education teacher's aide for Hamburg Area School District from 2001 until retiring in 2019. She was a member of the Shartlesville Fire Company. Susan loved animals, reading and crafts. She was very interested in the afterlife and the supernatural.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children: Jason B. Schaeffer, companion of Renee Grynastyl, Bethel Twp.; and Valerie M. Schaeffer, Centerport; and her three fur babies: Maggie, Rambo and Reddington. Susan is also survived by her sisters: Beverly A. (Wallace) Bart, Cape Canaveral, Florida; Melody J. (Wallace) Shade, wife of Dale, Shoemakersville; Deanna A. (Wallace) Schrawder, Perry Twp.; and Julie L. (Wallace) Burkevage, Shoemakersville; and three nephews: Dean Shade, Brock DeLong and Austin Burkevage. She was predeceased by a sister: Kimberly Ann Wallace; brother: Scott H. Wallace; and nephew: Troy D. Shade.
