Stearns O. Kline, 84, of Tilden Twp., died Monday, December 5, 2011 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., where he was since May. His wife, Phyllis A. (Yerger) Kline, died March 16, 2010.

Born in Perry Twp., he was the son of the late Walter J. and Kate (Rothermal) Kline. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Stearns first worked for sixteen years for Burkey Underwear Company, Hamburg. He then worked as a crane operator for twenty-four years for Carpenter Steel, Reading, retiring in 1991. He was a life member of Union Fire Company, Hamburg; and a former member of Blue Mt. Senior Citizens, Shartlesville.

Stearns is survived by four sons: Glenn A., husband of Audrey K. (Davis) Kline, Upper Tulpehocken Twp.; Dennis L., husband of Marquerite A. (Steinmetz) Kline, Upper Bern Twp.; Keith A., husband of Sandra C. (Dreibelbis) Kline, Greenwich Twp.; and Donald R., husband of Debra J. (Correll) Kline, Tilden Twp.; and one daughter: Jacqueline A. (Kline), wife of Kenneth R. Sholl, Bethel Twp. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Stearns was predeceased by four brothers: Floyd, Charles, George, and Walter Kline; and one sister: Mamie M. (Kline) Merkel.

Services will be on Thursday at 1:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will be in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm.
