Obituary

Stanley R. Snyder, 81, a resident at Cornerstone Living, New Tripoli, and a lifelong resident of Hamburg, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 in Cornerstone Living. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Twigg) Walters-Snyder; and the late Helen L. (Shelhamer) Snyder, died June 18, 1998. Stan and Nancy were married November 6, 2004, and celebrated almost 21 years of marriage.

Born in Kempton, he was the son of the late Elmer W., and Minnie M. (Berk) Snyder. He graduated from Hamburg Area High School in 1962; and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Education from East Stroudsburg University; and later received a Master's Degree. He was a member of The Bridge Church, Hamburg. Mr. Snyder was a high school biology teacher at Hamburg Area High School for 38 years before retiring in June 2002. Stan enjoyed gardening, hunting, and hiking. He was an avid sports fan; and enjoyed time spent at this church. He was a previous member of Hamburg School Board, and is a member of the Hamburg Area Sports Hall of Fame. He was a former Berks County Soccer referee for many years, and loved to travel. He was also very proud of his Hamburg Area High School Wilderness Club. He always loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children: Ross A. Snyder, husband of Julie A. (Pelano), Madison, NJ, and Alison J. (Snyder) Epting, wife of Christian B., Hamburg; two step-children: Amy B. (Walters), wife of Ryan Jacoby, Annapolis, MD, and Jason B. Walters, husband of Tennille (Mauger) Walters, Reading; ten grandchildren: Madison, Reed, Alexa, Rowan, Chase, Cooper, Alli, Ava, Sienna, and Zach. Stan was predeceased by his siblings: Howard, Lester, Kenneth, Mildred, Marie, Norman, and Lennia.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:30 am from The Bridge Church, 3561 Old Route 22, Hamburg, PA 19526. A visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 am in the church.
