Sophia K. Leibensperger, 99, formerly of Mohrsville, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Berks Heim. She was the widow of John S. Leibensperger, who died on April 6, 1996 after 64 years of marriage.

Born in Lebanon on December 11, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Ebright) Georganakis. She graduate from Mahanoy City High School in 1930. Sophia was employed by the former Globe Underwear Company, Shoemakersville. She was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville and also the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shoemakersville Fire Company.
Sophia is survived by two sons: John N. Leibensperger, and wife Doris, of Temple; and Stephen J. Leibensperger, and wife Doris, of Perry Twp.; and two daughters: Mary Ann (Leibensperger) Schappell, of Lancaster; and Cassandra J. (Leibensperger) Adams, wife of Edward, of Shoemakersville. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by two brothers: John and Stephen Georganakis.

Memorial services will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear) with Rev. Walter W. Breiner officiating. Burial will be private in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Friday 11:00 am to 12:00 noon.
