Shirley A. Hoppes, 92, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 in her residence. She was the widow of the late Daniel G. Hoppes, died June 11, 1981.

Born in Auburn, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Barr) Steffy. She was a member of Frieden's Lutheran Church, Shartlesville. She worked as sewing machine operator for March Sportswear, and had previously worked at Post Precision Casting; and Shartlesville Hotel as a waitress. She was a member of Eastern Star; Blue Mountain Senior Citizens; and Shartlesville Connections. She was always an active member of her church. She will be missed by many as well as remembered for her endurance and strength and great love she had for her family. She had a way of leaving a loving impression on everyone she met.

She is survived by two daughters: Rhonda L. (Hoppes) Kilner, partner of Kevin L. Kern and widow of Mark Kilner, Upper Bern Twp., and Renee L. (Hoppes) Derenzo, wife of Victor L. Derenzo, Upper Bern Twp.; three grandchildren: Nicole L. Ketrow, Alicia L. Compton, and Angelo V. Derenzo; and a great-grandson: Reece J. Ketrow. She is also survived by a brother: Gilbert Steffy, Auburn, and a sister: Joan (Steffy) Bradley, Georgia. She was predeceased by her brothers: Kenneth, Clifford, and Stewart Steffy.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Frieden's Cemetery, Shartlesville. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
